Figure collecting and significant others!

My Fiance Loves anime! She's read. and watched more than me, even thought I introduced her to it (Naruto 8 years ago lol) But.... SHE hates my figure collecting! Not because Of the actually collection but cause of the space it takes up (Cause I don't throw away my boxes) and I keep. ordering more and more. She also doesn't like that sometimes I'm. irresponsible with my money... anddd sometimes I spend money on Figures that I shouldn't be spending. All valid reasons! But for the most part she supports me in my hobby, which is toy photography and I'm very very lucky! (for example! This beach shoot I would NEVER have done this alone)
How are your guys relationships with toys and significant others?

How are your guys relationships with toys and significant others?

I've only been figure collecting for the past year and a half, and at first my girlfriend was wary reminding me not to get any cast offs, but now I've actually got her into it. She wants to start her own collection now, particularly nendoroids, and I ordered her an Asuna nendo for Christmas to get her started. I think in time your fiance might come around, mine did Great photograph by the way!

I am so lucky that I have found someone who can share in the Hobby. I myself think I'm getting a bit more pickier as we have so many now that I'm afraid we won't have enough space to display them properly when we move.

I'm still in college but family is telling me to stop collecting because of space.

First few figures were okay with them then it kept adding up, my loots started to get bigger, and now my parents are a little annoyed lol.

Not to mention I live in LA so we are prone to earthquakes. (My mom thinks my detolf case is going to fall on me and kill me)

I started just a few figmas from Amazon and from there it just exploded with Nendoroids and Scale Figures, I don't like figmas that's why I only have like 3 of them in my collection...

My family always likes to come in my room and look around like it's some sort of rare art museum or something o_0
Other than that they don't mind at all of my figure collection.

My grandma once came into my room and I have a poster of Mahiru Inami (from Working!!) and she looked at it and thought it was a small guy with a bowtie! I kinda chuckled to myself and explained to her it was a girl that worked part-time at a restaurant.

Unlike DonkeyBlonkey I live in Texas so I don't have to worry about earthquakes so all of my figures are openly displayed on thin glass shelves.

death buy anime donkeyblonkey lol all tho i must say my mom just yelled at me for order a bunch of anime she used the c word she called them cartoons no one in my family understands me lol

I don't have enough displayed right now or before all the packing to have any concerns from my parents. My mom isn't big into figure collecting as my dad sometimes like getting KISS action figures and she hates them. But they are helping us move so I just have to be sneaky enough for my mom not to see what's in all the boxes lol. I'm sure she will find out eventually, but I just don't want to hear the disapproval.

Luckily not many earthquakes here either. We have had a couple small ones, but nothing where anything was knocked over.

My dad has his quirks that's for sure. My mom has a more traditional style, while my dad would go to Kiss concerts in full Gene Simmons makeup when he was a kid. It's kinda weird how opposite they are.

Honestly I don't think they really know what anime is. I remember one year I got Bleach for my brother and they were like what's anime. It's not really common around here. Guess I will find out what they think when they come over to our apartment and see a bunch of figures displayed lol

We both know you're not pickier since you end up buying more figures every month. Though sometimes its my fault too.

My parents just call them "monos" or "those shows you watch". It's funny because once my mom told me I'm hoarding! I just laugh; but in the end they know "those shows I watch" are part of who I am haha.

This is an interesting topic and I am sort of in the same boat as you darkviruzzz. Mooshi loves anime/manga/merch and some figures but she flips when I buy Sena figures, or any figures from To Love-Ru (such as that wedding Momo).

I understand why but its so ironic how she can have the 1/4 Sonico bunny (which is cast off) but she wants me to sell all my Sena figures

And what awesome responses everyoneeee, I have almost very similar situations with everyone. I used to get my stuff delivered to my parents house.... but I had to stop cause my dad would give me dirty looks lol I got my collecting from my mom (she collects porcelain statue thingies) so... she can't say anything. lol

Who could hate Saber? She's adorable and bad arse. Though Spoon loves Mami figures and while I do like mami as a character I don't love her as much as he does. So we have tons of Mami figures and I'm all set on her for the most part but he is into collecting every one of them lol. I allow it though because I fixate on other characters as well that he has to put up with.

As for shipping them luckily most of the shipping methods I choose, they make you sign for them. So after I move to my apartment I'm not sure how the packages will work for those that don't need to be signed for. I would hate for someone to grab it before I can get to it. So i'm safe with the amiami packages, but not sure I want to send stuff to my parents house after the move as they will wonder where all these packages are coming from.

She hates every Sena ever made, ALL OF THEM! and yea she thinks I like Sena a lot, which is not true, I just love Haganai. Problem is that for Haganai they mostly release Sena figures, and also Sena gets some very pervy figures.

And bloosica we never display anything nude or in their cast off form
