Anyone else trying to learn new languages? Anyone have some techniques for teaching yourself? I've been taking Spanish and Japanese for two years now and I can honestly say it's been no easy ride. There have been times when I've I wanted to pull my hair out and scream. But I'm so thankful I kept pushing my self to learn. I think one of the things that I learned was never giving up and knowing that when your screaming inside you are doing your best. So never give up even though there will be many times of strong frustration. But knowing multiple languages can be very rewarding.

I would like to learn Japanese and Russian but since I have a speech impediment I would probably need to learn how to say my "R" right before learning any other language's.

I took 3 years of Spanish in high school and I can say I can probably hold a very short easy conversation and that's about it. I know even less German because I used to live there, but was so young I didn't have to interact with people much.
As for what I would like to learn, I would love to learn Vietnamese as my boyfriend and his family know it and I would love to be able to understand conversations that go on at the dinner table lol. But because there are two different dialects and programs like rosetta stone don't use the common one that is spoken here in the US I don't really have a basic tool. My boyfriend tries to teach me some here and there, but it's hard as he doesn't know how to read or write and can only speak it because his grew up with it and has no idea how to teach it to someone else.
Then I of course want to learn Japanese, but that would probably be after Korean, so I have no idea if I will even have enough time to learn it all.

I can only speak it, not read or write it. So you're kinda out of luck there if you can't use the proper pronunciation.

Sure you can't teach me everything, but it would be nice to talk to your family more.

You give me too much credit for speaking fluently. I still pronounce words with my very own accent attached to it.

Don't native English speakers have accents to words that aren't spread around the country? Also since you grew up here you are obviously going to have a different accent then someone who grew up in Vietnam. I'm not looking for perfect, I'm just looking for good enough. I just think you are lazy
