So I've been known to purchase a figure here and there for characters I just recently found out about through the figure itself or figures that I've heard of the series, but have yet to see or play. Sometimes the figure itself will get me into watching or playing a game. Possibly the most recent one was Tohka from Date A Live.  Previously I hadn't even heard of the anime, but after seeing her nendoroid I knew I had to have her. So I pre-ordered her right away and then watched the anime. Glad I did because I really enjoyed it and it makes me love the nendoroid even more. In fact since watching it I then pre-ordered Yoshino and Tohka's scaled figures. Today I saw a figure that was just put up for Pre-Order and I'm really loving the design.  I have heard of Idolm@ster before, but never had a chance to play the games. But this figure is just stunning. I love her outfit and the whole figure just gives off an Alice falling down the rabbit hole vibe to me and I've loved Alice in Wonderland ever since I was little. I haven't quite decided yet if I want to pick her up, but I am leaning towards it. Hopefully she won't sell out before I can decide. Do Idolm@ster figures normally sell out fast? So what about you? Do you buy figures to only known characters to you or do you tend to branch out like me? |

I don't think they sell out fast because there are soooooooooooooooooooooooo many! and I know exactly what you mean.... that's how I got into Sword art online, I preordered kirito figma and then I watched the anime later

It's true that's how I first heard of Idolm@ster because it seems every week there are a few that pop up, but none before have caught my eye quite like this one.
I don't recall how I heard about sword art online, but I'm glad I did. But at that point I was scrambling around trying to get their nendoroids. I was lucky to find Kirito on crunchyroll as he was sold out everywhere else, but I was too late for asuna. So I decided to pre-order her figma just so I could get one. I'm not a huge fan of figmas and usually just get them if one really catches my eye and I can't get a similar figure or nendoroid. Luckily they are rereleasing the asuna nendoroid, which I pre-ordered right away so now I can have the set.
I would love if someone released a set of kirito and asuna kinda like how they did the muv luv figures that Kevin just posted about.
But yes back on topic lol

I will admit that that one is really adorable and I've seen her around thinking she was nice. Looking at her again after deciding that maybe I would pick up an idolm@ster figure I can actually see myself picking her up. But only after the one I posted. She just melts my heart.

I don't read a lot of Mangas though I have a few. I kind of want to read the manga for soul eater as I heard it branches off in a different direction from the anime. But for the most part I don't have enough time.

Never seen either. I know both are hugely popular, but honestly I can't see myself sitting down with either one. It's the same with me and one piece as well. I have no idea if I would actually enjoy any of them, but from what I've seen they just don't cater to my interests.

Well I've been reading naruto and watching it for 10 years lol before it was relatively popular in America. But it's like one of those things.... kind of like a good tv show with alot of seasons that's gotten stale, it's just better to end it. It was amazing for its time. I dont think I have truly gotten a figure for a character I did not know, simply because I got into figure collecting to get figures of characters I love XD but sometimes looking through AmiAmi I will see something interesting and check out the show based on it. And from there if I like it maybe I buy it later on  |

But so. many things have surpassed it now. It's sad when series you love get stale. I'm not sure what is better, a series ending to soon or it goes on for way to long. Either way I won't be getting figures for any of these series any time soon, even without watching them. None of the figures have even stood out to me enough to get it without knowing the characters. And I've seen an influx of One Piece figures lately and with Attack on Titan's popularity they have gotten their fair share too. They would have to be one amazing figure for me to even consider it. It's funny some things I've never heard of make me want to get a figure, but if I'm aware of the series and don't want to watch it normally their figures won't appeal to me either. Maybe I do base what I want to watch on character design lol |

And from there if I like it maybe I buy it later on I don't have the patients to wait until after I've watched it lol. I'm always on alert that it might sell out and I will never get it again. I've been pretty lucky though so far and have liked all the animes or what have you from figures I've purchased before the seeing it. But like you I got into figure collecting because I wanted a tangible form of a character I really love and relate to. But there are just some figures that give me a special feeling without knowing the character. I can say that I purchase more figures of characters I know, but it does happen. |
